I received this piece on “humility” written by Br. James Koester of the Society of St. John the Evangelist. I thought it was particularly inspiring:
Humility “One of the easiest things in the world is to be clear-sighted when it comes to others, and to know exactly what another needs to do to address their shortcomings. It is not so easy to address, or even admit, our own shortcomings. Real humility is about knowing ourselves as God knows us: imperfect creatures, whom God loves. Knowing ourselves loved by God means first recognizing that we are loveable. To do that, we need to be clear sighted, not about the other person, but about ourselves.”
This reflection reminds us of the importance of “knowing ourselves loved by God” and “recognizing that we are loveable” as the first steps towards humility.
This weekend we are welcoming our new Music Director, Tim Smith! Please join me in welcoming Tim to St. Michael’s and helping him to feel at home. We are so blessed to have him with us and part of our great staff.
Some people have been asking about the delay in the removal of the old office building. The delay is due to the water that has accumulated at the work site. This makes completing the removal more challenging. We are working on a solution and hope to have the removal complete soon. Thank you for your patience.
I am happy to report that the new sound equipment was installed this week. The old equipment was failing rapidly, and the new equipment will improve the sound both in the church and on the livestream. Many thanks to Sue Van Oss for coordinating and overseeing this effort.
Be safe and well.
Peace,
