The ministry of welcoming and hospitality is particularly important on Sanibel, which hosts tourists year-round, has many winter-only residents, and frequently becomes a new home for retirees from “Up North”. A fellowship gathering follows each weekend service; wine and cheese on Saturday evenings and coffee hours on Sundays provide opportunities for us to greet each other and to welcome island visitors and new or returning residents to our church community.
The Hospitality Ministry is responsible for organizing many fellowship activities, including identifying hosts, providing supplies, maintaining the kitchen, and assisting as needed.

Now that the buildings are restored from Hurricane Ian damage, our attention moves to the landscaping. We are working on plants, irrigation and drainage and a team is working on the design and implmentation of a plan. Once that is completed the Landscape Committee that helps care for the plants will resume.

The Fellowship meetings are held in the Parish Hall from 8:30am-9:30am. All men of the community are welcome and encouraged to bring a friend.

St. Michael’s strives to be open and welcoming and takes its call to hospitality seriously. The church is open twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, for you to spend some time in quiet prayer, attend a service or participate in some of the many activities we offer. Members of the parish serve on this committee to support the efforts to be welcoming to all.

Potluck suppers, which follow lay-led worship services on the first Wednesday of each month, are a popular and well-attended Saint Michael’s activity throughout the year. Hosted by four to six people, some of the suppers have seasonal themes, such as the summer indoor “picnics” and the December Christmas dinner. A favorite evening is the “Brats and Beer” supper in the fall. Many attendees – regulars and newcomers – assist with putting away tables or washing dishes.
Parishioners host events that are open to the entire community and participate in already established island events and activities.
