About the author: Don Adams and his wife Jane were Sanibel Residents for 18 yeas and have been members of Saint Michael's for 25 years. They now live at Shell Point Retirement Community. He served on the Captiva Historical Society and the Bailey Matthews National Shell Museum boards and is an emeritus member of the Sanibel Historical Preservation Committee. While on the preservation committee he produced the Sanibel Heritage Trail.
